Hard rock band Silvertung has started the New Year with a bang thanks to the successful release of their new single “You & Me”. Debuting at number #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Radio’s Most Added List the week of release and continues to resonate with fans entering the Billboard Mainstream Rock Radio Chart’s Top 40. BraveWords is streaming the new video for “You & Me”. Watch now!

As the band’s only stripped down, acoustic song off their critically acclaimed debut Out of The Box (released on Pavement Entertainment), “You & Me” has continued its momentum thanks to the success of its video, which was directed by Wade Spencer. A homage to life on the road, the video takes viewers on a virtual tour with the band giving an inside look at the aspects that few get to see. Since its debut, the video has garnered over 34,000 views.

“When we came up with the concept for the video, we decided that we wanted to really show our fans what it was like to be on the road,” said Speed, Silvertung’s singer/guitarist. “Our fans are the reason why we have the opportunity to do what we love night after night. This is our way of giving them a backstage pass to our lives.”

It’s this devotion to their fans that has made Silvertung’s popularity soar over the past few years. That …and the hook-driven singles that have been released thus far. Their first single “Devil’s Advocate” also appeared on Billboard Mainstream Rock Radio’s Most Added List the week of release and “Never Too Late” and “Face The Music” both hit the Top 40 on Billboard’s BDS Rock Radio chart. Each of their videos has garnered over 100,000 YouTube views and these numbers are steadily climbing.

2016 proved to be a monumental year for one of the most formidable new hard rock bands to come out of the East coast, Silvertung. The first single off their album Out Of The Box, “Devil’s Advocate,” soared up Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Radio’s Most Added List the week it was released and the follow-up singles “Never Too Late” and “Face The Music” each hit the Top 40 on Billboard’s BDS Rock Radio Chart. Today the hard rockers reveal their softer side with the premiere of the video for their new single “You & Me” exclusively on AXS.

“You & Me” is the only acoustic song off Silvertung’s critically acclaimed debut album Out of The Box. Upon release the track climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Radio’s Most Added List edging out veteran acts Korn, Blink-182 and From Ashes To New. The video pays homage to life on the road, taking viewers on a sneak-peek virtual tour with the band. Director Wade Spencer was enlisted to capture the spirit of the song and filmed the video on location in Blue Bell, PA.

The first thing that strikes one upon playing the video is the quality of Speed’s voice. He has a wonderful tone and the quality truly comes through on this stripped down song. It is fun to watch the guys joking around with each other, giving fans a glimpse into their personalities, which happen to be quite special and most definitely worth experiencing in person. Silvertung’s singer/guitarist Speed said, “When we came up with the concept for the video, we decided that we wanted to really show our fans what it was like to be on the road. Our fans are the reason why we have the opportunity to do what we love night after night. This is our way of giving them a backstage pass to our lives.” Silvertung’s devotion to their fans, the Tung Nation, along with the band’s hook-driven singles has facilitated Silvertung’s popularity soar over the past few years.

2016 has been an outstanding year for new music.  New albums from every genre have flooded the market.  While albums take center stage for so many audiences and critics alike, they are not the only new recordings that are deserving of attention.  EPs deserve just as much attention as albums this year and every year.  Keeping that in mind, this critic has maintained a list of the year’s top new EPs throughout the year.

Now with the year’s final weeks winding down, Phil’s Picks begins its annual “Best Of” lists with a list of the year’s top new EPs as, again, they are deserving of as much attention as the mass of albums released across the board.  This year’s list is topped by hard rock outfit Red Tide Rising’s new EP Voices.  Also included in this year’s list are new EPs from Fenix TX, Silvertung, Orgy and many others.

As in previous years, the lists presented by Phil’s Picks are topped by the year’s top 10 new releases.  An extra five releases worthy of honorable mention are included, too.  That brings each list’s count to 15.  Having said all of that, here is the first of Phil’s Picks “Best Of” lists for 2016.  It is 2016’s Top 10 New EPs.
